Manic Monday

Here's another subject I love to photograph...characters.

This guy...at least for this day...is a story teller at the zoo and he had the kids mesmerized with his tale of Native Americans and trappers and wild animals galore.

I don't know what people like this think of someone taking their photo...I usually ask permission, but I wasn't about to interrupt his story and he didn't miss a beat when I pulled my camera up to my face and started shooting. He looked at me a few times but never gave any indication I was out of line. I took that as a model release.

I wonder who braided the rug...was it him? I wish I could have stayed and talked with him but we had to move along to our destination.

Then there is this guy...he's content because the zoo's just built him and his family and friends a huge play yard and he's contemplating swinging from a branch. Then he did swing from a branch...
with his lovely wife.

This guy didn't want his picture taken...I think he's a spy. I guessed his antennae like eyes are really tiny cameras.
His name is Jerry. He wouldn't sign a model release.

Character is important...good, strong character.

Manic Monday- Car Search

Many have auditioned, none have been chosen to replace Oksana and Rose

We're still in the market for a new car...we sold the above pictured star car a few months ago and we are on the lookout for our perfect car.

A more...reserved star car.

We have changed our collective mind about 50 times but I think we are getting closer to a compromise.

We are reducing and simplifying.

Going down to one car.

Oksana the Red, stayed safely in the garage 95% of the time so she wouldn't get hurt...or dirty.

Scared. To. Take. Her. Out.

So we parted with her.

Rose, my car 1998 740

We'll sell or trade my car since it's a major gas guzzler. 13 miles to the gallon isn't a good thing. She's also like 102 years old in car years. But she is reliable and pretty, I'll give her that!

A guy at the drugstore told me she was beautiful. Men flirt with my car. They do.

Time keeps ticking on while we save more moolah for our new car.

Madley searches and researches.

I look at ads he emails me.

Good thing I have him. He rocks my world.

I've learned that used BMW's cost less than a new Ford Focus or a Minivan. But Fords and minivans don't last as long as BMW's. Madley teaches me the finer points in car life.

I lost my desire for a minivan when we rented one for our vacation.

So watch for our newest STAR CAR to debut in the next...say...three to nine months.

It probably won't be red...just sayin'

Manic Monday

I just can' stick to a meal plan but I do plan on cooking this week...let's just see what I cook and I'll post any recipes or reviews or links I can. K?

This morning I am making Chicken Salad so when the house gets hot around dinner time...I won't have to cook. Croissants, tomatoes, red onions, and fresh baby spinach with ice cold watermelon chunks on the side. Did I just say chunks? Not very appetizing. Squares? Pieces? Cut up with no rind? Whatevs. Yummy. I'll post the recipe tomorrow.

We're going up to the falls this afternoon to hike around and stay cool and then we'll come home to this already prepared meal and eat it in the cold shower.

Today is supposed to be hotter than yesterday but not by much. Then tomorrow will be hot, but not as hot. Wednesday is supposed to be significantly cooler and downright cold and rainy by the weeks end. Now your talkin'! MY weather. Cool and cloudy. No bright orb to suck my will to live. If you love the sun then please, come and take my share.

Sun makes me crazy. It makes me sleepy and grumpy and not want to go outside. What's wrong with me? Nothing. It's just how I'm wired. I have dear friends who are wired just like me...Little Indy and The Pickle are.

Madley and Juniper aren't...though Madley has started to "see the light" this summer. He has been working in the yard for a few weeks and when it's overcast all day until dinner time when it burns off...he sees why I love it up here. He curses the sun right now :) "Curse you bright orb!".

Now... the sun has been blazing all day for a week and I think by next summer, he will be re-wired and happy to live here with me in paradise. Green, lush paradise. God's country.

Tell me about your manic Monday...are you cool? Are you hot? Are you a sun worshiper or a vampire like me?
